How to: Set report defaults for all new reports to be based on.
Solution:
In a new Report Design view, select the 'View' menu and select 'Properties'. Set the desired defaults.
1) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
2) Click the 'Reports' tab in the database window.

3) Click 'New'. (The New Report dialog box appears.)
4) Select 'Design View' from the 'New Report' list box.
5) Click 'OK'. (A blank report appears on the screen.)
6) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Properties'. (The property sheet appears.)
7) Click the 'Format' tab from the Default Rectangle dialog box.
8) Type the desired caption that will appear in the title bar in the 'Caption' box.
9) Click on the 'Page Header' box. (A down arrow appears.)
10) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down arrow appears.)
11) Do one of the following to determine whether the page header is printed on the same page as the report header.
a) Select 'All Pages' from the 'Page Header' drop-down list for page headers to be printed on all pages.
b) Select 'Not with Rpt Hdr' from the 'Page Header' drop-down list so the page header is not printed on the same page as the report header.
c) Select 'Not with Rpt Ftr' from the 'Page Header' drop-down list so the page header is not printed on the same page as the report footer.
d) Select 'Not with Rpt Hdr/Ftr' from the 'Page Header' drop-down list so the page header is not printed on a page that has either report header or footer.
12) Do one of the following to determine whether the page footer is printed on the same page as the report footer.
a) Select 'All Pages' from the 'Page Footer' drop-down list for page footers to be printed on all pages.
b) Select 'Not with Rpt Hdr' from the 'Page Footer' drop-down list so the page footer is not printed on the same page as the report header.
c) Select 'Not with Rpt Ftr' from the 'Page Footer' drop-down list so the page footer is not printed on the same page as the report footer.
d) Select 'Not with Rpt Hdr/Ftr' from the 'Page Footer' drop-down list so the page footer is not printed on a page that has either report header or footer.
13) Click on the 'Grp Keep Together' box. (A down arrow appears.)
14) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
15) Do one of the following to determine whether groups will be kept together by page or column:
a) Select 'Per Page' from the 'Grp Keep Together' drop-down list to keep together by page.
b) Select 'Per Column' from the 'Grp Keep Together' drop-down list to keep together by column.
NOTE: The 'Keep Together' property must be set to 'Whole Group' or 'With First Detail' for the procedure to work.
16) Type the desired width of the label in the 'Width' box.
17) Click on the 'Picture' box.
18) Type the path and filename for the graphic image.
NOTE: Access supports .BMP, .ICO, .DIB, .WMF, and .EMF graphic formats.
19) Click on the 'Picture Type' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down arrow appears.)
b) Do one of the following to specify whether to store a picture as an embedded or linked object:
1] Select 'Embedded' from the 'Picture Type' drop-down list to store a picture as an embedded object.
2] Select 'Linked' from the 'Picture Type' drop-down list to store a picture as a linked object.
20) Click on the 'Picture Size Mode' box. (A down arrow appears.)
21) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down arrow appears.)
22) Do one the following to determine the picture size:
a) Select 'Clip' from the 'Picture Size Mode' drop-down list to display the picture at actual size.
NOTE: If the picture is too large, the picture is cropped.
b) Select 'Stretch' from the 'Picture Size Mode' drop-down list to size the picture to the form window.
NOTE: If the picture is smaller than the form window, the image may be distorted.
c) Select 'Zoom' from the 'Picture Size Mode' drop-down list to size the picture to fill either the height or width of the form window.
NOTE: This setting will not distort the image, but it may not fill the form in either the height or width.
23) Click on the 'Picture Alignment' box. (A down arrow appears.)
24) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
25) Select the desired alignment location from the 'Picture Alignment' drop-down list.
26) Click on the 'Picture Tiling' box. (A down arrow appears.)
a) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down arrow appears.)
b) Do one of the following to determine whether or not to tile an entire form with a background picture.
1] Select 'Yes' from the 'Picture Tiling' drop-down list to have a background picture tile an entire form.
2] Select 'No' from the 'Picture Tiling' drop-down list to not have a background picture tiled across an entire form.
27) Click on the 'Picture Pages' box. (A down arrow appears.)
28) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down arrow appears.)
29) Don one of the following to determine whether which pages a picture will be displayed on:
a) Select 'All Pages' from the 'Picture Pages' drop-down list for the picture to appear on all pages.
b) Select 'First Page' from the 'Picture Pages' drop-down list for the picture to appear on the first page.
c) Select 'No Pages' from the 'Picture Pages' drop-down list for the picture not to appear.
30) Type the number of horizontal subdivisions for the alignment of the grid in the 'Grid X' box.
31) Type the number of vertical subdivisions for the alignment of the grid in the 'Grid Y' box.
32) Click on the 'Layout for Print' box. (A down arrow appears.)
33) Click the down arrow. (A drop-down list appears.)
34) Do one of the following to determine which fonts to use:
a) Select 'Yes' from the 'Layout for Print' drop-down list to use the printer fonts.
b) Select 'No' from the 'Layout for Print' drop-down list to use the screen fonts.
35) Type the path for the desired color palette a form uses in the 'Palette Source' box.
36) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save' to save changes to the report.
